Quick Tips and Training

New products and services

Be sure to check the WorldCast CMS portal for product announcements and new service offerings that can add more functionality and power to your marketing and business application efforts.

Importing text into WorldCast CMS

Text can be imported from a variety of sources including web pages, Word documents, and other text editing utilities. Text that is imported from web pages and Word documents can contain formatting code that may interfere with the desired style settings.

Fonts for the web

Sans serif typefaces tend to work best on the web - especially for text copy. When printed on paper, the serifs on typefaces are only a tiny percentage of the typeface's design. Fancy typefaces are generally not at home on the web. On-screen, however, because of the limited number of pixels available, serifs take up a much bigger proportion of the information. In a web environment, they can become distracting "noise" to the communication process.

There are seven fonts that are the best for a website. They are: Arial, Futura, Helvetica, Lucida, Optima, Palatino and Verdana.

Secure your valuables: creating better passwords

Best practices recommended for creating secure passwords include using passwords that are at least eight characters long and use a combination of upper case, lower case, and special characters. Avoid using personal information, dictionary-readable words, or the same password for all your accounts.

Unfortunately, many of us will forego these safety precautions in the interest of being able to actually remember our passwords! There are, however, some techniques you can use to create passwords that are both safe and memorable.

  • Turn a memorable sentence or phrase into an acronym that you will use as your password: "When I grow up, I want to be an astronaut!" becomes WIguIwtbaa!
  • Use a phrase as your password: Eye In The Sky
  • To further secure a sentence or phrase, convert letters to numbers or add special characters between the words: 3y3*In*Th3*Sky
  • To modify your password for different sites, add an account identifier: bank-WIguIwtbaa!

The few extra characters you have to type are worth the effort for securing your valuable personal data!
